Working mainly with stop motion techniques, Maybelle has developed a range of workshops for young people. Her workshops provide an opportunity to develop animation skills including storyboarding, model making and sound design, focusing on traditional narrative structures.

An experimental project that uses the creativity and imagination of those involved with the aim to expess mood, memory and a sense of place by creating an animated video with a documentary style.

Artist: Barbara Bayer presents Painting & Printmaking

Printmaking, "two boats"Barbara is a visual artist with many years experience. She has developed her sculptural work over the last 15 years and has exhibited in Britain, Germany, Norway and other European countries. Within the last few years she has developed a great interest in printmaking. Barbara has worked on a variety of community based commissions and has been involved in teaching children of all age groups and abilities and adults alike.

This course will look into various drawing and painting techniques to encourage the self expression of the children. We will touch on a variety of materials and a variety of subjects, ranging from charcoal and ink drawing to collage and mixed media approaches.

Artist: Avigal Rachel Pommert presents Fantastic Felting goes 3D

"Felting Class"Avigal Rachel Pommert is a felting and puppetry artist with over four years experience of working with a wide range of children’s and adults’ arts community groups. She has designed costumes for the Deptford Albany Theatre which toured nationally in many different schools, and her work has appeared in the Hackney Gazzette, the Mercury and the JC. Her clients include the Little Angel Theatre, The Barbican Centre, and museums and galleries accross London. Avigal Rachel exhibits nationally, and runs her own puppet theatre, “Textile Stories”.

This term we shall be focusing on creating more fabulous 3D structures with felt and textile technique. Add your piece to our big
patchwork story quilt, build a felted birds’ nest or enjoy working on larger themed mural pieces in a group or individually. We will be learning some exciting new decorative techniques to finish off these projects. Each project will last roughly two weeks to ensure plenty of variety! All beginners welcome.Winter has never been so fun.

Artist: Claire Bevacqua presents Fun With Clay

CeramicsClaire studied ceramics and metalwork at Camberwell College of Art, after graduating in 2000 she completed an apprenticeship with one of the UK’s most renowned potters and then continued her research in Faenza, Italy and Paterno, Sicily. On returning to the UK she set up her own studio where she makes and sells her own sculptural work and teaches privately. Claire has been involved with teaching art and ceramics in the community since 2002.

The fun and creative clay workshops give children the opportunity to use their imaginations and develop building skills. Working in groups and individually, themes will be used as a springboard for the development of ideas. This course will cover a wide range of techniques such as coiling, slab building and slip decoration, including masking and printing.
